Got out this weekend and had a great walk in the mountains. Really had a great time. Saw lots of critters and got in a bunch of field practice.

I sure can't get the WFN's to fly much past 175yrds before they slice way off in a new direction. But they do shoot well out to 100yrds+/-

I brought along some 420gr LFN's and they really fly...was able to knock the branches off a small bush at about 450yards (first shot went a little low and with the next 2 shots the branches flew!), also shattered an eight inch white rock at 220yrds.

I managed to get within about 40yards of this Rock Chuck and sent a 420gr. WFN over 14gr HS6 through his melon... His reaction and "Air Time" made me think it was probly enough gun

Mister, why do you carry a 45? "Because Sam Colt don't make a 46."

Awesome results and good shooting! I like the HS-6 loads as well - plenty of punch for anything I'll encounter and easier on the wrists/senses than the 110/296 loads.

What's first up on the list for the 475 this season?

hs-6 is rapidly becoming one of my favorite powders. anything ya run it through hits hard, but isn't just a killer on the shooter. nice gun and good shooting.

Thanks guys for the great compliments!!

It is in SW Montana... It is really smokey here right now because of the fires in Idaho so it gives an eerie look to the land.

The area of that picture is really nice country. It is pretty high (around 8,000ft). You can see for miles, and a lot of the little outcropings of rocks have Marmonts. Antelope are all over the plateau.

It is a great area to really see how well you can shoot looong distance. It is kind of hard to judge distance out there, but it is kind of fun to be able to see where you are going to be in a half hour..lol

180 degrees (about 300yards behind) from the direction of the marmont picture, is a big, dark timbered canyon, with mule deer, elk, bear and grouse.

This picture was taken at the bottom of that canyon...Lisa called it a "Hell-Hike" LOL and I am pretty sure she will never go back in there with me again. The climb out is so steep that even the pack-goat layed down and refused to climb any further..LOL He was along so that my 5 year old son could ride him out. So much for that idea.

Mister, why do you carry a 45? "Because Sam Colt don't make a 46."

As an outfitter and having done a serious amount of packing with horses since 1987, I would like to know the outcome of your goat packing adventure.

What happened after that?

LOL

I miss it out west. Here in NC there are almost no open public spaces to do any plinking and just general farting around.
