Obligatory pics are here now-Not the greatest, but it gives you a decent idea of the SP. This is Freedom Arm's Single-Shot Pistol chambered in 6.5 Swede Ackley Improved. Have some 142 SMK's/H-4350/Lapua Brass/Fed 210M ready to go for fireforming. Scope is the Sightron S-II Big Sky 6.5-20 (1" tube) with MOA Reticle. Will be using either 123 or 140 A-Max's (likely the 140's) for lopes or maybe for an unsuspecting mule deer. When I sent the barrel to Holland's to have him put on a brake, I should have noted I wanted one that follows the lines of the barrel more. So it looks a little ugly with the size of the brake (to me), but it will be very effective in recoil reduction.

Ernie,
Let me know how the 6.5 AI shoots for you. I need to get back to working with mine.
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I don't always have distance on the brain. Not in the mood the past few weeks to shoot extreme distance. 500 and under seems to be the current mood.

Looks good Ernie, are you going to be able to make it out with the SP group in september?

Depends if I am archery elk hunting still or not. My hunting buddy will only be available for the first and last weekend in September. So unless we tag out this weekend, I will be in the hills then. Looks good Ernie, are you going to be able to make it out with the SP group in september?

Very nice! What kind of velocity do you get out of the 6.5 AI with 140's?

I will give you a call when we roll through Belle Fourche on the 23rd or 24th, if you're available we'll stop in and at least say hi.

Ernie, What size groups were you getting with the Swede before you converted it to the AI? Could this be 200 yd bench rest gun?

I didn't shoot it that much before I had it rechambered. I don't picture the FA being a short-range BR comp pistol myself, but I have been wrong before.

Joel and I have been out once, a week ago from today. Got really close to a 350-360 bull. We plan to go several days toward the end of the archery season. Neither of us flung an arrow yet at an elk.

That is one heck of a big bull. Keep us posted.
I have a big boy scouted out on one of my properties also.
