I have Ruger Blkhawk 4 1/2 bbl in 45 colt. I can shoot it very good, but just cant seem to get the right fit with grips. Currently using Hogue but a lttle too clumsy, Looking at Badger finger groove grips. Any suggestions.

I looked at the excaliber, but they say it may take until sometime next year before the ship any. May just have to make my own.

I'll keep my fredom, money, and guns you can keep the change!

The Eagle grip co. has some decent looking grips also look at Herret grips or Pachmayr. I like the Hogue or Pachmayr, the Hogue feel bigger than the Pachmayr to me because of the palm swell. I prefer a grip with a filler behind the guard to take out the finger bite.

I have the houge laminated wood grip on my SBHH. I liked it ok, but it did feel clumsy and a little too big, but some time with sandpaper, and a little patience, made a world of difference. Now, they fit my hand, like a glove, so to speak. I just kept sanding, and trying the grip, and repeating, until it matched my hand. Not only does it feel much better, my offhand shooting improved noticeably.

Accuracy with a pistol starts and ends with a [good repeatable] grip on the gun, without that you will have the Devils own time ever mastering it.If the grips hurt your hands find something that dosn't,or cut, sand off every thing that hurts.
After market grips for the Blackhawk are pretty easy to find or make your own.I like something with a filler behind the guard to take out the finger bite then make them fit your hand.

I see a lot of inexpensive oversized grips at gun shows that can be customized to fit your hand.
