Going to be hunting with the 44 this year. Gun is a 629-3 6 inch unfluted cylinder with scope. Going to Illinois after deer and have a good supply on hand of 2400 and 231. Ive seen fps between 900 and 1500 online but what are some of you finding that works?

Todd, a lot depends on what your gun shoots best. I have found that the fastest loads are not always the best loads. My .44's have always liked H110 or 296.

I witnessed a doe that was shot at about 25yds with a Hornady factory loaded 240xtp and her insides looked like someone threw a grenade at her. Not sure of the fps of that load but it did the job and then some.

i shot a doe last year with the 240 xtp going 1189 out of my new model flattop 44 special. she went down as quick as any deer i have shot short of a spine shot. dont remember much about the autopsy. i believe that is the load reflex264 is going to carry in his bisley this year.

Yep that load shoots great out of our large frame specials. I am going to see what it does in the .44 Mags as well. Should work fine. reflex264
