Thanks guys! I got within a hundred yards of this bull. My Sony camcorder has a 20X zoom and this way cool "still pic camera option" if ya get this little card and put it in this little slot and push the right buttons (it took me two years to figger that one out...
At 61 years of age I am technology challenged...
Several of the cows were aware of me, but unspooked. I think I could have waited him out until he stood up and then put a .475 slug through that big chest, (if my elk fever would have allowed me to and my heart didn't give out first...)
For the record, I also want to mention that this year is an absolute amazing exception that I have never experienced before. I have hunted these different areas now for over 30 years and never found so many good bulls. And interestingly we had a bad drought this spring; the hay meadows are only producing 30 to 50 percent of their normal yield so of course horse hay went up even higher (would you believe $12 to $14 a bale)
So the early talk among the local hunters was that it was gonna be a bad year for horn growth.
Go figure. Mother Nature beats us once again. But this time it looks like in a GOOD WAY!
