Saturday morning at about 9 I was fortunate to put this years first 2 does in the books. First was a 129 yard shot and she fell right there. I put another 30-30 round in the contender just in case she decided to pop up on me. Then about one minute later another smaller doe came out about 109 yards. She acted confused by the other deer not moving. She turned quartering away headed to the treeline. Contender fired and down she went. First blood for the 30-30 Contender. MO urban season started well. This pistol hunting is awesome.

Congrats! Speer's #14 manual asks ( I will paraphrase ) " When is a cartridge considered better in a handgun than in a rifle?" Answer: 30-30 WCF. Your experience appears to confirm that.

Congrats on a great start to the season!
I think it's great that you can use firearms in the urban zones/seasons - in most areas that I hunt, it's archery only.

Great way to start the season off. I was going to try to get out and do some handgunning during the MO Urban season but never got the chance. My Contender is itching to go!
