I have been Handgun hunting this state since July 1973.
Rick Brigham, Fred Hersey and myself legalize Handgun hunting in NV in 1973, we had signed petions from all over the state w/over 5000+ names and went before the F&G commission to legalize it.
The 3 of us had to go the the Washoe Co shooting range N of Spanish Springs and provide a shooting demo for the commisioners, before they made a ruling.
We used 357 Mags in Colt trooper,TC's all scoped, 44 mags S/W & TC's all scoped and even had several of Wes Ugaldes xp-100 pistols in 6/25/6.6/7mm calibers.
After we got thru, we let the commisioners shoot any or all the pistols, they were impressed to say the least.
Later on that day, we recieved word that we were sucessfull and to draw up what we thought would be approiate pistols/calibers for hunting, and come to the next meeting.
The regs have been since changed, I would have to dig up what we thought of for spec's, but basically it was 357,41,44 45 mag pistols w/4" or longer bbl's and or any CF case 22 cal or larger with a overall length of 2". IIRR.
When I can draw a tag, I handgun hunt, so far I have a 86-6/8 BC Antelope,1982,1st taken with a Ugalde XP-100 pistol and the first Nelson Desert Bighorn sheep 168 BC,1980, taken in NV with a 14"-6mm Ugalde TC pistol and numerous Mule deer.
