 First Handgun Buck !!!

I got my first handgun buck this morning! It was a decent 9 pt, not boone&crockett material, but a trophy to me just the same.
Equipment - Ruger SBHH, 44mag , with Burris Fastfire III, shooting factory loaded Hornady 300gr XTP.
Conditions - 45 degrees, overcast, heavy breeze at times.
Now the story........ After an unsuccessful hunt Saturday, I changed stands and hunted a different spot this morning. The deer walked out at 8:40am, and was apparently equipped with some new type of "red dot repellent " force field, because he caused my dot to wobble all over the place!! That never happened in any of my practice sessions, as the dot has always been relatively steady and solid. Lol!! Anyway, I managed to get myself calmed down, and squeezed the trigger slowly. He bucked and ran 20 yds, and fell. It was over. Distance to target, was 80 yds. I was blessed this morning with a nice one, for my first handgun buck. A few pics are uploaded to the bragging board if y'all wanna see. Thanks to all those who've offered help, advice, and answered my million questions over the past yr. I know now, why this is an addiction! I'll be back in the woods next weekend, with 44 in hand.

Thanks fellas. And thank you, archr, for the picture help. I was more excited about this deer, with my 44 in hand, than I was about some of my bigger deer that were taken with a rifle.

It was a good weekend folks, dcrawley44, took a VERY nice wallhanger Saturday morn, with a rifle he and I have worked on thru the summer, customizing the stock, and polishing the action. We went friday afternoon, and picked up his new 44. Hopefully, we'll have more handgun deer pics to post soon, when he takes his first handgun deer. He's already an accomplished hunter, with wallhangers to his credit, but he needs some encouragement, to leave the rifle at camp, and fire up that new Taurus 44!

Congratulations on the great buck with a handgun. I hope to get one with my Ruger BHH in 45LC this year. I have been shooting it a lot with 270grn and 300grn cast bullets.

Nice buck!Its still muzzle loading season here in NC. Got busted by a buck yesterday in the swirling wind from Sandy. Not big but it would have been a good start to fill the freezer full of tender meat for the winter.
Gun season starts this Sat and I have a football game to go to. Oh well Monday will see me and the Ruger SBH 44 on the hunt>
