i have been looking at the ruger 22 semi auto mk2,and the beretta neos.i like the neos for the fact that the scope base is incorporated into the design of the gun,on the other hand you have to love the ruger.several years ago i had a ruger 22/45 it shot good but at the time my intrest was in "longer guns" any way does anyone have either of these guns(or both)in the end i am not parcial to either,i want the one that performs the best!talk to me fellers....jim257

No experience with the Beretta, but I own both the Ruger and the Browning Buckmark. Of those two I will take the Ruger hands down. This is the model that I own:

Ruger Slab Side Gov't Model

It just feels good in my hands and shoots well. I feeds every kind of ammo that I feed it; something that I can't say about the Browning. I would buy another one in a minute if my current were gone tomorrow.

New for 2004, all adjustable sight Ruger 22 pistols come factory drilled and tapped for a weaver type scope base which is included. Pretty tough to beat that! reakin

Can't say much of the Neos or the Buckmarks, never owned one. Shot a Buckmark once. It was OK but just didn't feel like my MKII. The Neos are to spaceage looking for me.

I have the Government competition slab side and a 10" bull barrel version. They both shoot very accurate. Neither are fussy about the ammo I feed them. The only ammo I did have trouble with was Winchester expert. The shoulder of the bullet would hang up on the feed ramp. The slab side comes drilled and tapped with mount and rings. I liked the thumbrest grips of the slab side so much that I bought a set for my 10" MKII. The Rugers are easily customized. Check out this site. Volquartsen Custom

I think I would take the ruger over the others but also take a look at the sigarms trailside. They are very nice.

i have a 22/45 5 1/2" bull barrel ruger in blue. like it really well! if i were buying right now, i'd get the newer version with 6 7/8" slabside barrel.
i used to have a stainless competition target model slabside, but it was heavier than the 22/45, and probably no more accurate from what i've seen.
the best addition to my 22/45 has been a simple hogue rubber slip on grip. really improves the grip feel to me.

My choice hands down would be a Ruger either MKII or 22/45. I have a22/45 that is customized and it is great. I might buy a 22/45 with a slabside barrel. Brownings look ok, have a Buckmark rifle and have never had a FTF. Beretta's NEOs are too bizarre looking.

Break away from the pack and get something you'll be extra proud to pass on to your children. Unfortunately my "Gun fund" is zero right now so when I saw a mint High Standard Victor on Gunbroker.com I could only show the add to my son and lament my situation. Fortunately his gun fund was healthy enough that he was able to be the winning bidder. We're both chomping at the bit waiting for it to get to our dealer so we can take posession and get to the range.

I am expecting a few checks to be coming my way in the next two or three weeks, so now my biggest problem is deciding which .22 I want the most. Currently considering a S&W model 41, a Colt Diamondback, a S&W model 17, and a S&W model 18. I'm leaning toward the model 41, however the dealer who will receive the Victor is advertising a S&W K-22 5 screw manufactured in 1947, and a S&W model K17 4 screw (apparently a rare find) so when we go to pick up the Victor, I will be taking a close look at these two. I've always had a soft spot for a .22 Diamondback and recently stumbled on a local shop who specializes in Diamondbacks and Pythons (haven't had the opportunity to visit his shop just yet) and besides how can someone called Coltfan not own a Diamondback.

I have heard lots of great things about the Rugers and Brownings, still haven't ruled out the target grade Browning with the 5.5" barrel and integral scope/red dot rail. Still, I'm leaning toward something I may not be able to buy later on.

Coltfan, Those S&W model 41s are a great gun, if you can stand the sticker shock for a rimfire. I own a S&W Model 18 Target that is a great gun. I know your handle is coltfan, but I have a Python that has cured me of any wants for another Colt.

Jim257-I love my Sig Hamerrli trailside and competition model too.I shoot 275-285 NRA small bore pistol with it. It is a real nice, very accurate piece and it never jams! I also like my Buckmark just for carrying and plinking. I have a Ruger slabside set aside right now at my friends gun shop. I used to have a Walther P22 but I was sorely disappointed in it. I traded it off. It was like a toy. I think Walther should have made it full size like my P99 9mm like originally planned. What did you decide on?
