I was wondering how often many of you shoot your SPs and what you typically spend to shoot your caliber of choice? I'm taking for granted you all reload or are millionaires.

Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I would rather not think about it and thank god my wife does not know the expenses. The initial out lay for the weapon and reloading supplies is the worst, then it gets to be smaller amounts but on a regular basis..

I like to think of how much I am saving by reloading vs. buying factory ammo. I'm fortunate to be able to shoot in my back yard and do so about every week. Sometimes only a few rounds, sometimes more.

I tried to order a Competitor SP, but they aren't taking orders for the rest of the year. That's purdy s4, specs?

Original XP in .223 with a mondo bondo self made "custom" stock in Cherry Red. Just a fun plinker or vermin assasin. Pretty tame compared to some here. I had a Competitor once, in .308 Win. Dan B has it now. I just couldn't get warm to the action, but was a great shooter.
Rod, too.

SC1911,
I think the answer depends largely on several factors...one, that was alluded to previously is how many guns are being shot and how regularly? Two, are they specialty calibers involving fireforming, specialty dies, etc (in which case factory ammo may not be available)?
For example, in my XP-100 in .223 - I'm shooting reloads...plenty of brass left over from my AR's, no specialty or premium bullets being used...fairly economical. On my 6.5x284 however, shooting Berger bullets out of Lapua brass can run up the price/outing. But I'm not shooting the volume out of it that I do with the "plinkers". Of course, I can shoot the .264 blems that I bought up from various wholesalers, but part of the allure with this gun is shooting (or trying to shoot) tiny, tiny groups - and my load development has been done with the premium components.
For me, my price/caliber isn't all that much - but all total, don't want to think about it...or put it down in print.

Just curious. I've been reloading for about six years now, give or take. I started out just shooting .45 in 1911's, then 10mm. This year I added the .44 magnum as you know. So I was crunching numbers the other day based on different calibers, and prices of bullets, primers, brass and powder. I had not even thought of new dies or other equipment to start with a rifle caliber. It's a lot different with these SPs.
