If money were no object,what would be your "dream hunt"? Must be with a handgun, of course. I think mine would be a big bull elephant.

just make that a double hunt for me an 7s ide say the same thing then i say have a few extra days to fish just to make it the best ever

Africa, with my 50AE 10" Desert Eagle and shooting Warthogs and varmint hunting Hyenas.

Alaska, with my 50AE 10" Desert Eagle and shooting Brown Bear and Moose.

Out West, with my 44mag 14" Desert Eagle and shooting Antelope.

All with open sights the way Nonte and Jurras did it in the early 1970s

2 months in Africa!!! Just take my time and hunt any or all good targets of oppertunity.

i'm much easier to please i'd love to hunt prairie dogs and try out a pronghorn............then pop big a Ky. elk.

If money were no object it would be grizzly bear in Alaska, but Koyde's prarie dog hunt would be a close second. Saw a show on the outdoor channel last year about a prarie dog hunt, and I must admit it looked like great fun.

I guess if money were no object, I would like to hunt for a world class elk. Not just the first one that walks by but a true trophy animal. But alas, it will never happen.

Mine would be a remote Alaskan hunt for Dall Sheep and then Kodiak Bear

My dream hunt would be two months in Idaho with my bow, SBHH, 28ga SXS, fly rod, and Gordon setter. No guide wanted; just someone to keep camp, cook, and haul game out of the woods...and process it.

I realise I'm a late joiner on this one, but like addicts I think the more I say it, the better I feel.

There are many potentials - Alaska must be awesome, Chasing Marco Polo Sheep one day maybe. . . But It would have to be here in Africa. A hunt combining, Southern Buffalo, Elephant, Lion and it would have to have Bongo - In fact Bongo first, one can always make a plan to get the others later. It goes without saying that it will be a handgun hunt. . . now just to convince the authorities of the DRC, Central African republic or Uganda or Cameroon to allow a handgun in. Oh well it is a dream hunt after all.

RSA_LT Good ideas. Especially the bongo!! Do you know if Zimbabwe allows handguns for dangerous game? I'm trying to plan a hunt, but so far, I haven't been able to get a solid answer-one way or the other. I know it has been done in the past-JD Jones, ect, but don't know if it is still allowed.

Mine would be a moose/caribou/black bear combo hunt in Newfoundland with a trio of Ruger revolvers. Unfortuneately, our friends to the north are unlikely to allow me to do that anytime in my lifetime.

On the doable list, I would say a moose and brown bear hunt in AK.

From what I understand when Larry Kelly and JD Jones hunted in Zimbabwe, the bush war was still raging and the Parks Authority responsible for licensing made a special concession. Up until 2002 minimum barrel length for a hunting firearm (in Zimbabwe) was 20 Inches. This has been changed and in theory all you have to comply with to hunt dangerous game is the minimum caliber: 375. so 44 Mag, 454 Casull etc in revolver are allowed. 375 JDJ and up in handgun pistol format. Whether this is still the case after the last election circus (just completed) is anyone's guess.

If you are prepared to go through the beaurocracy you can handgun hunt Mozambique and Zambia.

LT, Thanks for the info. I have a cape buffalo trip planned for 07, so I guess I have time to see if anything changes. I'd love to use one of my handguns, but it that fails, I have a 458 Lott that is more than up to the challenge. Thanks again.

Hmm. Ok since we can fantasize here. If I won the Powerball Lottery, I would go on a long float trip in Alaska. This hunt would be from August to at least December.

For the begining of the hunt, I would go after moose, caribou, black bear and small game. This would then extend to the winter so I could get some wolves with the handguns.

A kodiak brown, a polar bear, and a walrus and then south to warm back up shooting cape buff and elephant all with my 6" 475, and maybe a lion for kicks and then since this is a dream on to australia to feed all the peta, handgun inc. and united nation reps. to the great whites.
