Anything going to go shooting across the room when I remove the 5 screws that hold it on the model 83 gripframe? Any other things for worry about in the process?

Thanks,
240

Uh huh! There sure is. I think it's the left screw on the back has behind it, when you remove the grip frame, a spring loaded son of a gun that will go flying if you aren't careful, and then there is the spring loaded gordian knot that is the hammer assembly. That will slide up by pulling it upwards if you remove the big fat pin but I have to ask. Why are you taking it apart?

I planned on using my FA83 4" 454 with Aimpoint red dot this deer season, but recently picked up a 353 with a 9" barrel & 2.5-8x VX3 scope. Its amazing how steady this gun holds on targets. It has me rethinking my choice of the ideal hunting handgun. I blame James.
Back to removing the gripframe: The 353 has the field grade "OVERSIZED" rubber grip. To say, "I hate it", is an understatement. I bought the gun used with the intention of having proper grips made for the gun. Since I only have a week before season starts, I was going to pull my FA83 475 gripframe off, and use it and its winewood grips on the 353.
Sounding crazy yet?

I don't know about that, however if you go to the FA website there is a schematic for the 83 in the owners manual.

240,

I would not suggest doing that. Each FA is custom fit; it's not an assembly line gun. Just my 3 cents.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.
