Finally bagged a deer yesterday. Not really my first with a handgun. My first was with a non-scoped SBH .44 mag from about 10 yds under my stand.
This one was about 75 yds in fading light with the SBH scoped up with a Weaver 2X. One shot, deer down!
I normally hunt in thick areas but yesterday I decided I would get in some fairly open woods on the edge of a swamp. Got bout 30 ft up in a poplar tree on the edge of a swampy area. Two deer came in around 5:20 pm and I picked the biggest one.It was a good sized spike probably around 100#. Thought it was a doe, dang it!
My load was 240gr Hornandy XTP wit 20.4 gr of 2400. Complete pass through which kinda shocked me until i cleaned it. Went right between two ribs just where I aimed. HAHA!

Good job. Oned thing I have noticed about using low power handgun scopes in low light or at distance is I am going to have to invest in good binoculars to keep does from turning into spikes. You will find pass throughs the norm with a 240 xtp with the exception of a shoulder shot and some of them still get through.

Thanks Guys!
I am so hooked on this handgun hunting. I've been carrying the SBH and a rifle with me for yrs but it always seems I always shoulder the rifle when a opportunity arises. This kill really helps my confidence. Now I will just ween myself from the rifle in the woods and small fields.
I really want to do some hog hunting here in NC with the SBH. Just have to get hooked up with someone nearby.
