I have a BFR in .500 JRH and was wondering about loading dies for it as I'm just getting started in reloading thanks!

I am using RCBS carbide dies for the 500 S&W. The Jrh is a only a shorter version of it.

I am waiting on my brass to arrive from Jack Huntington. From what I could gather, the RCBS 500 S&W/SPL carbide dies are the way to go.

What shell holder to buy? is the next question. I've read that the JRH brass has slightly trimmed rims. The RCBS shell holder for the 500 S&W is #44. What are you guys using?

Man I don't know either! I'm a real novice at all this, I bought some loaded ammo from Jack and I've only fired a few from it

On some dies you may have to. Get a die set that is marked 500 S&W Magnum/500 S&W Special, like these, and you are good to go:

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

No, the Special has a 1.28-inch case versus the JRH's 1.4-inch case versus the .500 Smith's 1.6-inch case. I use RCBS .500 Smith/Special dies.

I love the round and the fact that all the componets are easy to find, it's right in the game with the .500 Linebaugh.

Get the ones for the special s4s4u recommended. I have a set of 500 S&W RCBS carbide dies and the crimp flange was too deep and I couldn't use them to crimp the rounds.

And the shell holder is the same as for the S&W 500?

I'm anxious to get the brass from Huntington and to get started! Anyone got any loading data which includes choice of primer?

Thanks for the data. I have some heavier hardcast bullets on order but until they arrive I have a box of Sierra 350 grain bullets. I see in the data the load with WC820 for this bullet. I have none of that powder at my disposal but I do have Blue Dot, 2400, IMR 4227, Win 296 and H 110. I'm looking for a starting place with any of these powders and the 350 grain Sierra bullet. Also, I have WLP primers.

Any suggestions?
