So I've suspected that I have a mouse living in the cab of my truck for a little while but I've set traps and can't seem to catch him. I've got a pair of cowboy boots that I've been carrying around in the backseat floorboard for about 3 weeks hoping to get by the boot guy to have them resoled. Well tonight I went out to the truck to put a few tools in so I don't forget them tomorrow and I move my boots. Well it's obvious that there is something in one of them (no not the mouse - I wish). The little SOB has stashed probably a quart of acorns inside my right boot. I think I'm going to start packing some rat shot. That thing decides he's going to run up my leg or something and I might wreck... or shoot my foot off.

Maybe a hot glue gun would be the safest.

I can send you my BFR in 500 S&W if you feel a little safer with that!

I literally made thousands of dollars when I was still a Tech just on rodent damage so get that bastard out of there. They love wire insulation, it almost sounds like you might have a pack rat which is even worse. When they would get under the hoods we would tape a box of D-Con under the hood. Whether it's a mouse or a pack rat it will do it in. I've seen them do things you wouldn't believe. I had a Tacoma come in and there was piss dripping from the heater core box and the fan was making weird noise. He had gotten up in the duct work through the floor vents and built a nest in the fan box. I had to replace the fan box and fan motor and the detail shop had to shammpoo the carpets. I hate the little bastards with a passion.

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

I know it makes for fun hunting comments, but Rod is 100% correct on the damage they can do. Maybe Toyota should do a recall for a design defect, but I had the same problems with my Tacoma and Jeep at my last house. Nothing like having to pull the heater cover on the inside to clean out sticks, twigs, dog poop, you name it. Although it was kinda fun to watch the guys at the oil change place do the "ewe yuck" puke dance when they would pull my air cleaner out ;^)

I think you are a little too far south to worry about Hanta Virus, but around here, we have to take this seriously. No such thing as using a caliber that is over-gunned ;^)

I had a mouse build a nest on top of the engine on my farm tractor and didn't know it until I saw the smoke. I was able to get the nest out before it totally caught fire. Unfortunatley the mouse was gone. I applied a liberal amount of D-Con about the barn and that sofar has cured the problem.

Let us know what it scores!

Had one a jeep once. We noticed a bad smell and lack of air flow out of one of the vents in the dash. Took it in to the shop to get checked out Tech was not very happy when decomposing mouse got all over his shirt.

I hate the damage caused by those little buggers. We got hit by a packrat or a chipmunk during elk season just a few weeks ago. Chewed the wires completely in half that go to cylinder 6. Didn't even leave us enough to make a splice. Couldn't drive over 2500 rpm on the way home. Try going over the pass without hitting 2500 rpm-- makes for a LOOOOOONG day.

But I have a new-found love of setting mouse traps and whackin those things! I have two snakes as pets, and it sure makes for cheap food!!

Raptor, where you are at you probably have to worry about those damned marmots too!

When I was living on the Grand Mesa this summer those suckers liked to crawl up under your hood in the engine compartment and chew on stuff. if that doesn't get your blood boiling I don't know what else will!

I bet if you left a snake or cat in your truck for a day or so it would take care of your pest problem.

LOL
