What's some opinion's on the .22lr Puma that's out for under 200.00 a piece. One for me daughter and one for me. Also dumb question, anybody reload .22lr rimfire?

I don't know if its even possible to reload for the 22lr, but even if it is, I don't know that it is very cost effective.

As far as the Puma's go, I don't know anything about them.
What about trying to find some used MK's or Buckmarks? Most likely a much better gun than something that is $200 new, and if bought used, the other two might not be to much more than the $200.

Just a thought...

I read the exploits of a woods survivor many years ago, before that got to be fashionable. This fellow was reloading .22 rimfire ammunition. But it is a very tedious process, and really not worth the effort considering the costs of bulk .22LR ammunition.

Here is a link to a review.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRBAgSk1BNw

As raptortrapper has mentioned you would be better served by spending the money on a used gun from one of the major manufacturers.

I don't think you can reload. 22 rimfire, however you can resize the bullets. Look up Pacos 22 resizer

The Puma seemed better built than the Heritage Rough Rider, its built by Uberti and the company that builds the Rhino, if funds allow i might go for it, besides i'm not real impressed with the quality of my last Blackhawk purchase for a new gun deal. I need to start taking my reading glasses with me every where!!!

Why even bother, if you could? I can't reload anything for 3 cents a pop.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

well....ive never done this myself so your on your own hook, but you can/might reload rimfires. CAREFULLY cut the tip off strike anywhere matches, make a paste of them and use the paste as the priming compound in cleaned cases. hammer cant hit the same place. not much use for a 22 imo but 32 or 41 ect.?. dont know that i would try doing this but then ive never made my own black powder.

Hope those revolvers work out for you and let us know what you think of them after you shoot them a bit.

I have handled Uberti single actions and they seemed have pretty good fit and finish. But never bought one as I am more of a DA 22 revolver person.

Just so .. that would work but as I mentioned earlier on in the thread it is quite labor intensive.

Making your own BP is not that big a chore, as long as you always adhere to the "golden rule" ... small batches!!! There are a lot of things that will make priming compound, but a better small bore survival gun would be a flint lock in .32.

I'd never reload a rimfire just curious, the Puma's will be good for bonding time with my daughter. Still got my eye on that Taurus 992 .22lr/.22 mag convertible in SS and double action. How about a Herters .44 mag SA good shape $295.00, don't know much of the brand. Wish i didn't live so far from my son, he's in Vegas i'm in Minnesnota.

I don't know much about the puma 22. For the price I don't think you will have a bullseye match gun but with a 22 as long as it goes bang every time you can still have a blast. From my experience with ulberti you should have a much better gun than the heritage rough rider.
