I had a little fun this past weekend during the IL second gun season. The shot was under 50 yds.

S&W 629 Classic
Swift A-Frame 240 Gr.

Congrats Curly! Great buck and good shooting! I've got the same gun and I'm shooting 240 grain Remington JSP's in it.

I've been thinking of trying the Swift A-frames in it...what did you think of their performance?

Congrats! That's a great deer! A shot like that is picture perfect.

Great deer Curly and nice photos! Curious about your feedback on the A-Frames...

Looks like I need some photography lessons from Curly and Darrell!

Good show!

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have no complaints with the A-Frames performance, no bullet retrieval on this one, the interior wound channel was what you would expect from these bullets, “large”. I shoot XTP’s and A-Frames from the 100yd bench. Solid groups with both. The A-frames hold more weight with no jacket separation. So, I shoot XTP’s thru paper and prefer A-Frames thru “rib cage”.

Great, thanks for the additional info on the a-frames curly! Welcome to the site!

There is another member from Jersey on the site who recommends them also but his experience on big game is limited.

The 325 grain a-frame shoots great in my 454 but I've only used it on paper and a coyote so far. Hopefully that will change soon.

Curly very nice buck! congratulations. your reasons are exactly why I like the A-Frames too.

By the way I really liked your pictures, especially the one with the cylinder in it.

Congrats! I was in Illinois as well and temps + moon made movement minimal. Great trophy for a tough hunt!
