...come to the caller; this a.m. I went to one of my spots where I have called in coyotes but never a fox.

This beautiful prime red came in and I was going to take him with my .223 Contender, but he kept on coming in. Finally he was within 40 yards and I decided to try him with my Ruger .22/45. He obliged and came to 15 yards! One shot in the chest with a CCI Mini Mag HP.

Great looking fox. The last one I seen in my neck of the woods I was 14 years old. Seems like coyotes moved in, ...foxes moved out?
Nice shooting Gregg!

Very Cool. A few more and momma can have a new coat ;^) I would have opted for the 22LR just in case the first shot was not perfect. Would have been a shame to let that one get away.

Thanks, fellas. 240, your comment seems about right; coyotes will kill and eat foxes. I was quite surprised when this guy came in.

Craig; yes the Mini Mags are .22 Long Rifle, hollow points, and even though it was a frontal chest shot it dropped him instantly; probably hit his heart. I did not open him up of course; he's in the freezer for sale to my fur buyer.

LOL! Shepler's. Rodeos. Out and about.

I know it's not as cool as Uncle Ted's; but it serves its purpose for me when hunting just fine.

Excellent shot. How do you like that sight on your Ruger autoloader?

Thank you sir.

The Browning Buckmark Red Dot sight is perfect, IMO, for this Ruger; it was actually designed by Browning for their Buckmark .22 autoloader which is very similar in size to the Ruger.

One feature it sports is that with a twist of the dial, the red sight reticle has four different choices: a red dot in a circle, a red crosshair with dot in the center; a red crosshair/circle/red dot center, and just the dot. The brightness intensity is also adjustable, and the sight has a real on-off switch (versus motion activated or light activated like some of the more expensive sights out there). BTW this Browning retails for around $60 though I personally wouldn't put it on a heavy recoiler; JMO...

Here for $45;

Wow...very impressive. I would have assumed that it would take a head shot with the .22lr. Thanks for the info and well done.
