I want to start off by thanking everyone that helped with information when I decided to pick a handgun to hunt with. I got my first whitetail with my 7-30 waters this evening. He was just a spike but my first with the handgun. He was 75 yards and he dropped like someone cut his legs out from under him. The factory 120 federals did their job! I will surely start reloading for this gun this summer so I can get more practice before next season. Again guys, thanks for all your help!

that is great! it is so much more enjoyable to hunt with a handgun imo. i do like rifles, but i'd rather hunt with a handgun than anything i've ever used.

My first deer with a hand gun was with a Contender in 7x30 Waters 130 gr bullet. The shot split the heart in three pieces. The deer was a doe weighing 200 lbs in the UP of Michigan. My other barrel is a 445 SM this I use in the shotgun part of MI.

Congrats Thad,
Welcome to the club of insanely happy hunters. There is something wonderful about that first one. Keep it up and teach someone else the joy.

Great job and welcome to the addiction. That's not just a spike. It's a trophy. Stand proud with them horns no matter the size. One thing about handgun hunting is the handgun is lighter pulling up on rope than a rifle. Lol
Congrats again.
