I thought I'd let you guys know that Nosler is looking for someone to fill a supervisory position in the reloading area. The pay is 40 to 45K and they have good benefits. They basicly just want someone with management experience and a good understanding of reloading. I'm sure it's listed on their website but it's been in the paper for a couple months now.

yeah the politics here suck, it used to be that side of the cascades were like being in another state but Bend has become like Aspen and there are alot non native species moving in or in other words, there are alot of fruits and nuts and they don't all grow on trees! It's pretty sad that two of the top three states in Elk population have gone liberal, CO #1 and OR#3, and of course New Mexico has produced more monsters than any other place and it's gone liberal too. The whole west is under siege.

So, does the resident elk population turned people to liberals?? Elk could likely be the most dangerous game in the world if that is true. I never saw that coming!

LOL, never thought about the connection, maybe it's a thing where if your already a weenie they make you a liberal and if you have a set they enhance your common sense.

Rod,
It's not really that bad here in NM. Yes we always lean to the left when it comes to National politics, but here at home the Democratic lean is a bit of misnomer. We have lots of folks who vote for goodies, but when it comes to guns and hunting the masses are still pretty conservative. There is a distinct difference between a liberal who wants free stuff, and a liberal who wants to change you and your ways ;^)

Bearbait, I always figured the big thing with your state was indian population. I've only passed through NM a few times but what I've seen is normally alot of poverty among the indians so I figured alot of them were probably welfare dependent as well as your hispanic population.

Rod,
Yes we have much of that, but there are also a lot of local folks who do rely upon welfare but also rely heavily upon local, county and state for their jobs. I live in a "touristra" type town that gets a lot of influx from the granola types who would love to make it just like Boulder or Santa Fe (or wherever they came from). They usually last only a few years, take their lumps and head to greener pastures. So we do have the government is good mentality, but it generally stops when it adversly affects the more traditional values like guns and hunting. That makes being a registered "R" tolerable ;^)

I was born & raised in NM. Various areas of the state are as different as different states. The eastern side (next to Texas) is quite conservative, a productive agricultural area, O&G production in certain areas and a world apart from their northern neighbors.
The historic population of NM was Spanish & native American. Many of the communities (especially in norther NM) still reflect those roots. In NM many of the Indians live on reservations. The tribes are compensated by the Federal government. However, the "money" is not spread equally among the people. As with any group the smarter ones accumulate & the rest do not. Gambling is the "new" endeavor for most of the tribes.
NM has many Federal government installations of one type or another. If the Federal, state, local government, school & university payrolls were removed from NM, it would be a very poor state. New Mexicans generally do not like Texans. They only like the money that we bring over there & spend with them. LOL
I left NM when I finished college. I lived there again from 1999 to 2004. I owned a farm that was 5 miles across the state line from Texas in Lea County. There was a striking difference between the attitudes of people living in Lea County, NM compared to the attitudes of those in Yoakum & Gaines Counties, Texas, separated only by the imaginary "state line."
When I first moved there, my son-in-law advised me to buy an "old" pickup and put NM license plates on it. He said that it would be hard to trade with people there if I were driving my "new" pickup with Texas plates on it. He was right.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I'm sorry to hear about the influx of tree huggers in Bend. I remember when it was a small town with great trout fishing. A job at Nosler is truly a dream job!Nevada is like two different states in one. There's southern Nevada and the rest of the state. The rural counties are very conservative in their views. Last time Harry (good for nothing) Reid ran for office, there were billboards in rural Nevada saying,"Elect anyone butt Harry Reid". Since the capitol,Carson City, is in the north, they pretty much control the state's purse strings.
