Yesterday I received a newsletter from Foggy Mountain Guide Service in Maine. There was a short article mentioning a new hunting show on the Sportsman's Channel. It is called "Riggo on the Range" featuring NFL hall of fame member John Riggins. The show airs various times but I found it on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. CST.

In the article it mentions that John "spent every morning warming up his 454 Casull at our range but you will have to watch this bear hunt episode to see what happened when a huge bear presented itself for a shot."

I went to the web site for Riggo on the Range and there is a tab called "Riggo Recomends" where John is shown shooting and recommending a FA 454. He mentions that he was able to use it on a hog in Texas, which I see is one of the episodes to air as well.

I can't find the date that the bear hunt will air. On the web site it simply says there is a bear hunt in Sebec ME.

Anyway, looks like we may get to see some hunting on the Sportsman's Channel with a FA revolver. (It looks to be a field grade 6")

John Riggins was one of my heroes when he played, partly because even then he was noted as a hunter. He was a straight ahead runner that was also known for "not following the norm" with the NFL. His only black mark in my book was he helped beat my Broncos in the Super Bowl. I look forward to this new show.

Thanks for the heads-up, Muddy. I too was a fan of John Riggins.

Riggins was a bad-arse. No surprise he favors a .454....(G)

Great too many rifle hunting shows

Sometimes it is entirely appropriate to kill a fly with a 12 pound sledgehammer!

Just watched "Riggo" take two hogs in Texas. One with a rifle and one with the 454 Casull. If you are a football fan like me, you will get a kick out of one comment he makes when he says "just like the old days I am carrying the hogs again"

When they smoke the pigs I got hungry!
