I have an RCBS automatic powder scale and dispenser. Tonight I tried loading for my 6.5 JDJ. I've never had any problems with this set up before. Tonight my load is 34 gr. of IMR4320. The unit dispenses 33.2 gr., trickles 2-3 more gr. and always stops short by 4-5 gr. I tried it with several different loads and it always stops 4-8 gr.shy of the load it is programmed for. Usually when it trickles the last few grains in the spout is more "forceful" than it is tonight. I don't hear the motor as strongly as usual.
Any sugesstions as to the cause? Is it time for a new unit? I had this one for a loonngg time. Thanks, Yosey

well you can keep using it as long as it keeps going and just use a manual trickler. I'll do that sometimes with Lyman. I blow mine out regularly with "canned" air and just keep it clean. I'm not really up on the RCBS but when I decided I was going to buy one a few years ago I looked at what was available and was more impressed with the Lyman than the RCBS, especially since a big part of the cost with the rcbs was the name. If you do have to get a new one look at the Lyman DPS 1200.

For whatever reason the unit started working perfectly today. I don't know why it was acting up but I'm glad its back!

I'd still give it a good cleaning, use a light bristled small brush and a can of air. I would either just spray through openings in the machine or remove the cover. A little maintenance will go a long ways.

My RCBS has been sensitive to backround noise in the past, music or the tv can make it throw heavy and or light charges.
But I am glad yours is back working as it should,
