This just arrived at my place this week. Have been considering picking one up for a while and decided to finally get one. Not handgun related, but I thought some here might find it interesting. A little cool here to try it this weekend, but I expect to get on the range with it this week.

Nice, always like the Garand. It's from a time when recoil wasn't as be a factor as total distruction of an enemy soldier was. I like AR's but I'd rather take my chances with a 223 than to be hit by the good ole '06

Hey Stush, way cool but we need more info...manufacturer, barrel date, bore erosion, etc. I have 4 of them and even took a cow Elk in Colorado with my 52 dated H&R. It was only a 75 yard shot but way cool to carry in none the less. There are lots of 5 chot enblocs available to make it legal in Co and other states where semi-rifles are legal. 6 months ago I picked up 2 full cans of US Mil 06 in enblocs for $15 each. The old even stated he didn't he would sell them. I also picked up 2 full loaded bandoliers of enbloc for $5 each. One must scour the yard sales in the country to find such deals!!!...you never know what may turn up!

This one is a 1941 SA receiver. Barrel is a new manufacture Criterion. Stock is also newly manufactured. This is one of the CMP 'Special Garands'. They're about as close as you can get to having one factory new.

Regarding hunting with it, I would love to be able to hunt with this one at some point. I think WV used to allow semis? That's a quick trip for me.

Hunting Elk with up and down the Rockies was an experience. I have the ut most respect for the soldiers from every war, but those guys that carried a Garand every day was a manly man!
