Hunt was a total success. I am now in love with my 460 and got some great video and pics. The following is a sampling.

Here is the short version: Took my first hog (100#) with a knife over dogs. Not everyones cup of tea, but figured if I am going to kill from a distance then I need to man up and do it face to face at least once in my life. It was great.

The second hog was a 350#er with nice tusks. I shot him at 100 yards out of my 15" ported (Bellm) 460 S&W. Loaded some 275 Barnes XPB's. First shot entered the front left shoulder (quartering toward)took out a lung the shoulder and traveled the length of the hog and busted up the right hip. Bullet found under skin on the right ham. 2 petals came off but looks like at least 90% weight retention and looks awesome. Second shot from 50 yards. Entered the shield on the right side blew out the bottom of the lungs, top of the heart broke the off shoulder and lodged in the hide on the off side. 100% weight retention.

Congrats on a successful hunt!

Awesome work and an awesome hog you got there! Those bullets could be used in a Barnes ad!! You've done well!

Are you having that monster mounted??

Major congrats. It's been fun to watch your progression these last couple of months. And to finish up (for now) with a great hunt. If ever there was "when a plan comes together" it certainly has been this for you. Just watch the bow case. It might end up further and further back in your gear stash ;^)

What a great way to start out your handgun hunting endeavors, congrats!

If you don't mind me asking; where were you hunting?

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

DOA; question. What velocity are those 275 grain bullets loaded. They sure made a mess of that hog. Great job!

MAN, I did a quick (rough) ballistic check and got 2300 ftlbs at the muzzle! Still got 1930 at 100yds. Zeroed at 100 yards drops only 10 inches at 200.

I can't get over how nice this gun is. I love shooting it and it does a number on the animals. Not even sure I want to keep the 375JDJ now. Might have to trade it for something else. Then again can't imagine anything else being as fun to shoot as the 460.

Or I'm just in the honeymoon phase lol

Expect a log honeymoon. Mine is pretty awesome and ive said for a longtime that load ya used was responsible through my buddys elk he shot forthe most impressive wound channel on an elk ive ever seen. Damage was massive. Expandables just arent supposed to Penetrate that much. Awesome job
