I need to build a brake for my 375JDJ Encore and just wanted to know what works and what doesn't. Does anyone have a picture of this "fish gill" i've been hearing about?
Does anyone know what thread/pitch T/C uses on factory barrels, and why they can't install one on a bull barrel?
thanks.

The fishgill muzzle brake is made by On Target Technologies (OTT). There is a banner here on the site, just click it and check it out. I have shot an encore in 500 S&W mag with the fishgill brake. I was IMPRESSED! It kicked less than my 480 Ruger with 325gr loads. The nuzzle rise was little and the blast coming back was non existant. The break can be fitted to any barrel. OTT really did his homework when he designed this break. KYODE has one on a 300 Win Mag. I'm sure he will post and tell you about it.

yes sirreeee! like tigger mentions.........i have that OTT shark gill brake on my 300 win mag barrel. finished length is about 18.5"........but i shoot it as a handgun it handles amazingly well. much better than expected for a handgun with a barrel that long. it just balances well.

i shot the 300 winchester with 180gr factory loads before the brake was installed. coupled with a walnut grip......... it was simply brutal. not to mention, it was dang hard to hold onto. the muzzle would rise well above my head with a shot from the bench. after 12-14 shots my hand was bruised beyond using ANY handgun for at least a couple weeks.

after the OTT brake has been installed on this "heavy" 300, i'm sure i could shoot it all day long without ill effect. the gun will barely come off the bags now when fired. also, there is no impact into the web of the hand like before. recoil reduction of this brake has really impressed me. all that horsepower.........with very little recoil.

here is a pic of it. i'm not sure it does it justice. the coloring matches the barrel a lil better than it appears.

is it loud?..........of course ALL guns are loud and anyone shooting one without hearing protection oughta be horsewhipped. with good hearing protection......the sound is irrelevant.

I just tried the OTT site and it's back up and running. If you still can't pull it up the phone number is 1-603-750-3232. Sometimes it's better to call and talk to Mike in person.

still gotta fine tune a load, but 2600fps+ with 180's is easy. i'm hopin fer 2700fps+.
loading the 180gr sierra gameking with IMR4350 and H4831. i'll choose the best from that for my hunting load.
