does it have a one piece front sight or does it have the pin held style insert? For a rear sight some guys like the One Ragged Hole style peep but I prefer either the factory rear or the Bowen rear. If the front is the pin type you can get Hi Viz and I believe gold bead options otherwise you'll have replace the entire unit. In the past I've installed Weigand ramps that take any of the smith and wesson classic inserts. I still have some but I'm out of commission for the moment. Any competent gunsmith can install a factory Ruger pin system or aftermarket sight depending on what you want. If your good with a partridge or ramp sight the ones from Alpha Precisions are nice but spendy. Jack Huntington or Bowen are my first choices aside from myself for any work. There are others that are good but I base my opinions on their personalities too. Jack and Hamilton are both good people unlike some of the arrogant a**holes this business seems to attract.

I have heard great things about Bowen.

The God who gave us such a beautiful land, wonderful game, and the sport of hunting is worth knowing.

This is the only "iron" sight system you will see on any more of my guns that don't have optics:

The eyes do not get better with age.

The rear is a ORH and the front a Marble's fiber optic.

The factory front sight on your Bisley can be modified, or replaced by a 'smith.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

A Redhawk I used to own worked fine for me with a vee notch rear and a gold bead post up front. The ghost ring rear with the fiber optic up front looks like a winner.

I really like the Bowen target sights for the rear.

I like the Bowen matched with a TLA style front.

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

Looks like my Bisley has a one piece front sight, odd that my other Rugers, a Bisley Hunter has a dove tail front sight and my Super Blackhawk has a pinned front sight.

Has anyone tried painting their front and rear sights ? Any color better than another?

Fingernail polish works well and comes in a bazillion colors.
Fluorescent green or orange are nice. Whiteout works well also.
It all comes down to what YOU see best. With the polish you can change colors easily to see what works best for you.I have the one raggedy hole rear peep on both my primary .45s and love it.

Heck I like the stock ones just fine for shooting up to 50 yds , after that the front sight is a bit to wide. Hit a pop can yesterday at 45 yds first shot...then put the gun away.

i have a ruger 10 inch with stock sights. I have used bright fingernail polish for years, and it is removables in seconds and can be reapplied in various colors in seconds. AColt Trooper wears a bright orange on the riser blade, the Ruger, inside the notch. I have not outlined the rear sight on the Ruger, although, there is a groove for it.
