Finally got my background check in today, so was able to pick up the abused Ruger Super Blackhawk that is going to be rebuilt by Jack Huntington into a 500JRH. Here are some "before" pics...

Well, I'd love to answer that question, but I don't even know what the squareback is!!

He's talking about the back of the trigger guard (unique to Super Blackhawks).

Congratulations on the perfect foundation for your custom! You will be very pleased with the end product!

And yes, the waiting is the hardest part, but fortunately, the waiting is never very long with Jack Huntington!

Yeah this waiting already sucks, and she hasn't even been sent off yet!!!

And yes, I think I will keep that squareback of the gaurd if possible. Didn't realize that was a unique characteristic of the Super Blackhawks!

If you have not, you may want to try that type of trigger guard B-4 deciding on keeping it. I can not shoot mine with even moderate 44 mag loads without that squarback cracking my middle finger knuckle. I hope to have mine converted to a Bisley frame some day. Of course like several of my friends it may not be a problem for you.

What are you having done to the gun?

Here is a photo of my maximum grip frame before full treatment by Jack Huntington. The grip above is a standard, unmodified Bisley. It was the only other revolver to come down the asssembly line with that squareback trigger guard. I don't care for them personally.

You may want to reconsider, especially considering the chambering you are going with.

Hmmmmm..... After hearing the words of those wiser and more experienced than I, I'm thinkin I better NOT go with the squareback then!

So far, when it comes back as a 500 JRH, it will have a 5 1/2" barrel. Rear sight is going to be a Bowen target sight, and the front sight will be the FA sight so that blades can be changed easily. I am going to have a front sight that has a brass bead put in at Jack's, and if I don't like it, I will change it out till I find something I like. The cylinder is going to stay un-fluted even though I normally like a fluted cylinder since it gives me better grip when I miss with all bullets and have to throw the gun itself at the intended target!
\:D
The base pin will be either the #5 mentioned in a previous post, or a fully knurled straight pin. Not sure which yet. Grips will be redone to be custom fit to my hand. They will be deeply burled wood. There will be some engraving done, but I'm not telling what that is-- it will be seen in the "after" pictures. I am also going to see if he will redo the internal parts, and bring her back to life.
