Seems like a natural for replacing a front sight, as long as the base is high enough to allow for rear sight adjustment. YMMV

Dan B drilled and tapped a small brass shotgun bead into the top of his front sight. Looks great. Unlikely that you would run out of rear sight, often you can't crank them down enough for heavy loads.
