Good scope for a mild recoiling gun, but if your talking about something a little stronger I personallly didn't have a good experience with them.

I am thinking of getting a 6.8 for my contender so hopefully it would work for that.

I would at least go with the Weaver or up to the Bushnell Elite.

I have a thompson center RP 2.5x20 now but hate the 20 mm objective. Maybe I can sell that one and get a weaver or the bushnell. I would prefer to get a Leupold or Burris but money is not that free flowing for me.

Cougarii, I didn't mean to dash your hopes. I have had bad experiences with Simmons scopes, and even worse with their customer service. To be honest with you they bittered me twards their products..

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I like Burris scopes personally. I have only had one issue with them and it was on a 44 Mag SBH. From my understanding from Burris an internal seal busted and it looked like there was water spots on the glass. I had a bear hunt scheduled less than a month way. I had a new scope at my doorstep in a little over a week. Very good customer service. I have Burris scopes on all my guns. Just my 2c

I've had good luck with mine and I have two of them one on my SRH 44 magnum and one on my single six hunter.

Bought a brand new one back in Sept because I found it at a very good price...I mounted it on my 30 TCU and I really like it...it is clear and has very good eye relief. I dont know if it would hold up on a big kicker. But for the money on a lite recoiler I would take a chance. Rob

I have a simmons 4X scope I've had on my contender/.22 Hornet for over twenty years with no problems but the Hornet is not a heavy recoiling round either-john

Have one on my 17 ackley...not as clear as my burris. Don't know how it would fair on a big boomer...but for lighter rounds it should be fine.

According to the other post guess I been lucky, got 4X Simmons on 357 Max, 41 mag, 44 mag, 45 colt, 475 and 500 Linebaughs and the 375 JDJ and 45-70, have never had one break. These are all 15 in. bull barrel encores, would rather spend money on guns and reloading supplies than what I consider overpriced handgun scopes. JMHO

The Simmons from years ago were very good.
