The 475 is the best all around cartridge out there as far as I'm concerned. It will take anything from deer to elephant and do it with authority. It does what it was supposed to and bridges the gap between the 454 and the 500.

Yeah, you guys say that ! Deploy for awhile and you'll appreciate the use of your wrists that you could damage during repeated firings of your big .500's !
Wrist movement is critical...ya know for opening stuff, bag drags, driving and climbing in and out of vehicles . Why else ?

I have another wrist, plus if the zombie hippos attack i might need the 500. Remember, you can load them down to a mouse level kinda like a 44 mag.

for your 500 I'd look at Jack Huntington to build it for you, that way you can see the difference in styles of different gunsmiths.

Wrist movement is critical...ya know for opening stuff, bag drags, driving and climbing in and out of vehicles . Why else ? I shoot quite a few heavy loads through a number of large calibers, and boxed for more than two decades, and my wrists are fine. This talk of damage is greatly exagerated! I think some people are predisposed to problems with their hands, wrists, etc. I think you "need" a .50, Aaron!! Take it with you overseas! I know on my many overseas assignments over the course of many years, I couldn't wait to get back home in order to buy more guns! A .500 something or another is in your future!

Actually, I'm already doing some shopping . Damn you ,guys. In fact, once I get back and am doing my monthly drills again, those checks are already spoken for. And probably a travel claim payment as soon as I get home for a BFR that'll be heading to Rod.

can you guys point me in the direction of a custom builder. i have a brand new 4 5/8 sbh 45 colt to donate. I would be looking for a 500 linebaugh convertion. Either a bisley grip frame or a f/a style gripframe. I love my 83 grip

Jack Huntington (530) 268-6877......go look at the post called "My First" in the Shooters Bench forum. There is another thread somewhere there also, where a member was seaking advice on what mods to have performed to the custom he was commissioning Jack Huntington to build.
Wapitirod also if he was taking on more work......
