Well, as is customery I purchased myself a birthday present. Up to this point I had two S&W 500's, the shorter barrel and the longer barrel versions. I decided to upgrade. I was originally going to trade in the short barrel for a Peformance Center 10 1/2" 500 because it is not as accurate as I am used to. I at the last moment decided to trade in the 8 3/8" barrel because I figured that I did not need two longer versions. Besides, the accuracy of the shorter barrel version is not that bad, about 6" at 100 yards sometimes better. Anyway, I took my new Performance Center Smith out today and ran 45 rounds through it. I was breaking it in so I ended up cleaning the barrel 22 times during those 45 shots. I was shooting Remington 385 grainers ahead of 38 grains of Lil' Gun. My last string of 5 shots averaged 1650 fps. I know I can probably load to about 1700 fps, possibly more. The real bright spot was that my last 5 shot group at 100 yards was a shade less than 3". I have a feeling that I can do better than that. So far it is a sweet shooting rig .

The 500's are accurate. I was really suprised at how accurate BullElk Hunters was. Especially when I hit that milk jug at 300 yards.
