I bought a mint Striker tonight, it has been very little,I"m thinking about using the Hornady 130 gr.sp #3020, I have had good results with them in the Encores.I"m thinking powder wise Varget or IMR 4895, maybe 3031,what do you think, she"s a 308.

I had good success with IMR4227, 30gr. shooting a 125gr Nosler ballistic tip.
I tried 4895 but not for long, (compressed load), and at the time I didn't want to work with a compressed load.

I load H4895 w/ 125gr NBT's in a Competitor .308W. Great accuracy and perfect on deer. The 130gr Hornady has done well in everything I have loaded it in from the .30 Herrett to .308W rifles.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I have a bunch of the 125 gr. Ballistic tips, I will start with them, I have to get a scope, what kind of range are you getting out of your setups.

I'd be very comfortable with a 300yd shot with the current set up. My Competitor is topped with a 3-12X Burris. But.....but.....I do a lot of longer range shooting and 300yds+ are my normal practice ranges for single shot handguns. The longest kill with the Competitor is rather close...all under 65yds. But I have a XP-100 chambered in .300 Savage that runs a 150gr Rem SP at 2350fps. I've used it out to 200yds on deer and it has another 100yds in it pretty easily. I'd switch to the Hornady #3031 150gr SP or a 125/130gr bullet...the Rem's worked and their accuracy is great but the exit holes left me wanting more. The Hornady #3031 has never let me down in anything I've loaded it in...neither has the 130gr. Suprisingly, the 125gr NBT has not provided outstanding exit holes...but they critters all died within 30yds of impact.

Thank you Gent"s,I"m looking forward to getting her together and hitting the range.A Leupold 2.5-8, or a Burris 2-7 will sit on it.

I have the 2-7X Burris on the XP .300 Savage. Perfect scope for that gun. Just had the 3-12x setting in the cabinet when setting up the Competitor so that's what it got.
