Guys, I am really excited about getting these guns worked on by Rod. My .45 colt Bisley has served me well over the years taking several whitetails but the sights just are not making it for me anymore. He will do sights and an action job on this gun.

The next gun a Hunter Bisley .44 has a binding issue I am hoping to have taken care of. Maybe action work on this as well.

Am I missing anything? What else should I have done while in the hands of a pro?

Can you even keep the .44 mag hunter barrel on a caliber conversion?

I have a square back trigger guard .44 mag super black hawk for a future cal conversion.

These guns are staying 6 hole .44 and .45 cal.

I vote for the "50 cal something" also. But if ya do decided to go 44 or 45 colt, go with the 45 colt. Like Max says in his book, the 45 Colt will rival the 454, and will leave the 44 gasping for air!

Another good option for the Bis hunter would be a 5 hole 480.

I sure wish Ruger would build one as a factory gun.

Have him check the cylinder throats on both revolvers and open them up if necessary and redo the forcing cones. If the sights aren't working now it will get worse so go ahead and drill and tap for a scope mount while he has them, you can always add a scope later if needed.

Those are good suggestions but at the moment I'm not taking in any conversions. I'm waiting until I get caught up with what I have and figure out where I'm going long run with the business. I had Sig and one other patron send in their guns so I can have them here while my son is up for his spring break. He's a senior this year and I want him to a little taste of what I do. I'm hoping he may decide to join me in the business after graduation this year but I'm trying not to push him. I want him to get an idea of what the work is like and just what kind of opportunity I'm offering him.

How heavy of a barrel can you get through the headstock of your lathe?? I have a XP-100 .243W in need of a muzzle brake.

2", which i doubt yours is that big. The Rem has a round receiver and centered barrel so I normally just chuck up the stripped receiver when I do 700's.
