Took out the SBHH 45colt to shoot the other day with some friends. (shot some other guns too)

No paper. Just blowing up milk jugs, and knocking over chuncks of wood.

I am in love with this gun. Hanging milk jugs at 50 yrds were easy standing offhand.

Shot 335grn 1270fps hard cast loads, and some leverevolution 225grn loads. The gun is just sooo comfortable to shoot I can't get over it. The heavies barked some, but not unpleasant in the least. The standard SBHH grip is my favorite of any that I have handled. I prefer it to the bisley, and the regular Super Blackhawk grip. I feels similar to a Freedom to me.(have never shot a freedom, just handled a couple)

It took a while to finally settle on this gun as my hunting revolver, but it is here to stay. I started with a 629, then a Vaquero, then a Redhawk, then a Super Blackhawk, a taurus, and this SBHH is the perfect fit.

Looks, function, handling and accuracy. It even says "Hunter" right on it.

I would recomend the Hunter to anyone wanting to get into handgun hunting. It is a remarkable firearm that gives you an amazing product that is surprizingly affordable.

Nice revolver!

I too settled on the 45 colt for all around hunting. Mine is a Ruger Bisely with 5.5" barrel. I shoot 300 WFN at 1250. It is a handful but certainly not punishing - I save that for my 475 L.

Well said. I have two....the .44 and .45. For the maximum effective range of the cartridges, I don't see the need to go with anything more expensive like a BFR or FA. The Hunter model guns will do the job just as well for 1/2 to 1/3 of the cost....which means a lot more moola for shooting!!!

Dan,
Nice looking setup!! I have not put optics on mine yet, but am seriously considering a red dot or scope now that I have my Kimber to bring along for an open sighted short range gun.

Campbellkids,
The SBHH grip is bigger, and longer than a SBH grip. It fills the hand much better. I used to have to use the pinky under grip with my SBH, but can get all fingers on the hunter.

I think it's the "do it all" revolver. Light and compact enough to pack all day, yet Heavy enough to soak up the recoil. Barrel is short enough for quick manuvering, yet long enough to still get good velocity and accuracy. Go from scope to irons and back with no loss of zero on either. Did I mention it says "hunter" right on top!!

I feel it's the "if I could only have one gun" answer.

you couldnt peel mine away from me. with the stock grips, i could not hold onto the gun in cold weather. a hougue monogrip fixed that. it does seem to deal with recoil as well as the bisley with the addition of the monogrip. i have just added a 2x leupold m8 to the gun. this is the first time out with the gun and some quickly loaded 335 cast performances over a stiff charge of lil gun went 1250. i ended up taking a button buck with the gun on the last day of season, too.

I don't have the hunter but I do have the Bisley 45 colt with a 7.5" barrel. I love the gun with a 310 WLN at 1100 fps. Its sweet in the since that I can target shoot the round all day and it will fully penetrate a hog through the shoulders. I could not be any happier....except to get some custom wood on the grips!

I couldn't find a hunter so I bought a 7.5 blackhawk and put a hunter grip on it and drilled it for a scope it shoots good with 26 grains of H110 its running about 1400
