This weekend I made it down to the Wildlife Area I worked at the last four years and took my revolver out after some armored possums. I the forty minutes I was out and about on Friday and shot three out of the four armadillos I saw. Glad to see that my shooting is getting better lol.

the only one I remembered to take a picture of

on Saturday wasn't able to get out due to bad weather so we went and did some gun shopping instead.

on Sunday we woke up to snow and decided to do some bunny hunting. We didn't see any rabbits but did see a Diller in the snow and my buddy and I tag teamed it with our handguns.

Has anybody else been able to get out to enjoy to outdoors and to get some practice?

Also could somebody recommend a good set of muffs so I can get some decent hearing protection and yet still be able to hear critters move.Seams like I hear the armadillos or deer for that matter before I see them most of the time and with shooting the revolver it leaves my ears ringing for a while. Being only 25 I'd like to save my hearing and not end up like my grandpa and dad.

Nice shooting Cookie. I have been using Radian electronic ear muffs for years, very happy with them and not over expensive.
What caliber you shooting out of that Smith, by the way?

I did not think the armadillo made it that far north. I see snow in the background and that surprises me. I recall shooting them in Florida and assumed they needed the subtropical environment.

Yeah in south central Kansas they are everywhere, that's on the wildlife area near Kingman. I've seen them at my parents house near Cheyenne Bottoms and know of people who shoot them there on a regular basis as well.

Groundhogs, groundhogs, groundhogs!! I hunt them using the guns I'll be using on big game hunts. I've always been prepared and done well on hunts with all shots. If I can do 'hogs out to 400 yds. with my XPs, then elk, deer, kudu, zebra, etc. are a piece of cake. Loved it the two times I hunted with .416 Taylor Encore. Taking 'hogs out to 250 with 400 gr. bullets with it was a hoot!

wvhitman from what I've heard from other people that groundhogs are fun to go after but I do not think I have ever seen one but then again where I am at doesn't really sound like the best habitat for them. Out ere we have prairie dogs and I would like to try shooting them with a handgun.

Right, no 'hoggies in KS, but prairie dogs are just as good. Shoot 'em with whatever you're going to hunt with the most in the fall. Just because they're little doesn't mean you have to shoot 'em with a little gun. It will make you a better shooter and hunter.

Yeah last year I tried shooting them with my 22A and most of my shots were at the 80yard plus range and just couldn't quite get a hit, need to find another town the one we used to shoot at has taken a few poisonings. This fall I went after jackrabbits but not with much luck.

linebaugh thanks for the recommendation on those muffs I have been looking at them and they are pretty reasonably priced and have been seeing some good reviews. I think I will go that route.
