Trigger springs

Over the past few years I have been replacing the trigger springs in my Encore frames, my problem is they only last about a thousand shots. Has anyone had this happen with replacement springs.

are you using factory or Bellm springs? I haven't had a problem but a thousand rounds isn't bad for that type of a spring. Most people don't realize that springs need to be replace from time to time, whether it's a firing pin spring on a bolt gun or recoil springs on autos. All action related springs need to be serviced, some have actual recommended intervals but others you can tell when there is a change in action function.

I had trouble with hammer springs this year also. I replaced my contender spring when it misfired on a hog. I put another round in and it shot fine. I couldn't understand why the occasional misfire. I installed a new Bellm spring and wow. I could feel difference pulling hammer back and see deeper dents in primers. I highly recommend Bellm springs.

I keep a full selection of Mikes trigger and hammer springs on hand for the G2's and Encores and for the old Contenders I use his hammer springs and make my own trigger springs and replace the cup that goes on top of the spring with a steel ball which makes the trigger pull smoother.I've also started using his firing pin springs which are much tougher than the factory versions. He has alot of cool stuff for the T/C's and he's the only one with a line of aftermarket parts. His headspace shims are a slick way to correct for a barrel that would otherwise have to be junked or sent back to the factory.

Rod how do the headspace shims work? I have a 7-30 Waters barrel that shots good but can't reload them because on second or third shot i get casehead separation.

they come in a pack of several thin shims and they go behind the recoil plate setting it further forward. you just use a feeler gauge set and determine the space between the breech face and the barrel and then use the appropriate number of shims. If you have a barrel that has had the chamber cut to deep causing misfires this will correct that many times but if it's too bad then you either send the barrel back or install a new extractor so the case headspaces off the extractor.

no problem and by the way it only takes about 2 min to install or remove the shims once you get it set up the first time.
