Wonder how the accuracy is from 22 long to 22 mag on a cylinder change. I kind of like the idea of a 22 mag for ground hogs and maybe a yote but if it isnt accurate why bother . Practicing with a 22 lr is alot cheaper than 44 mag.Not that theres any 22 amo out there at the moment .

the best accuracy will come from a dedicated gun. Some of the single six's have acceptable accuracy with the mag but most are much more accurate with the LR rounds. I haven't shot one but I know a couple guys on here have a convertible built by FA but you could buy 3 or 4 Rugers for the cost of the FA. The problem is that a 22 Mag is a .223 cal bullet and a 22lr is .219 so depending on the bore on the barrel, forcing cone, etc convertibles will normally shoot one better than the other. I figure I'll eventually pick up a Single 10 and Single 9 as opposed to buying anymore Single Six models.

I had a 10 " that shot awesome with 22 mags. I sold it and started to shoot my 357 , as it was cheaper than shooting the mag. They will always hold their value.

I think there is a difference in twist rates between long rifle and magnums?

my first handgun was a single six, and for 30 plus years it has given great service. its still my go to woods bumming gun. back when i use to shoot a hole pile of rounds every week my target was spent shotgun rounds trying to punch out the primers. never did menage to, but hitting the shell was no problem. my idea of good accuracy is most probably less than yours, but ive found accuracy with 22lr and 22mag just fine. i would and do say every chance i get BUY THE SINGLE SIX.
