Being a shooter and a hunter I am amazed that after 52 years on this earth I cant find any 22's. Any opinions of why? Ive heard many theories but would love to know the real reason. Take care

Since there are probably more 22 rifles and pistols in existence than any other the recent run on ammo has effected that caliber as much or more than any other caliber. Millions of people only own a 22, so when they get scared about a ammo shortage they go buy 22 ammo and sure enough they create a shortage.

Hoarding on a budget!
Before the frenzy you could buy:
500 rounds of 45ACP for about $175
500 rounds of 9mm for about $80
500 rounds of 223 for about $300
500 rounds of 22LR for about $15-$20
And as said, everybody has a 22 or few.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Rochester had their gun show last weekend, I was told that there was a guy selling bricks of 500 for $200.00.

insane is anyone who would pay that. borrow a brick from a buddy, although it may be a few months or more till the hoarders have filled their basements
You cant shoot a big one, if you shoot a little one first.......

if you want to know why follow the off topic and gun news forums on here too. This has been regularly talked about for months but most guys never bother going to those two areas of the website.

Seems like it varies across the country. Take Brainerd, Mn for example - the mills fleet farm store/shooting range has bulk (525 rounds per box and 333 round pack) for $17.99 and $13.99 on just about anyday of the week. The only problem for some people is they will only sell one value pack per day per customer. There's basically no shortage of any type of ammo but they do have a limit quantity per day but the prices are basically "pre-panic".
They also have ranks of AR15's and a fine selection of handguns as well. On some days their parking lot has a lot of out of state vehicles and I would imagine they purchase whatever they came for from the morning staff and then return for another purchasing session with the evening staff ????
