I made up my mind and picked the Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Mag with a Leupold scope! Paid $750. If i dont get a Buck in Archery this year this is what im going to use for gun season! Going to be dedicated to hand gun hunting till i get a few wall hangers with it! I think i made a good choice with .44 mag especially right now just looking on the shelf they had at least 30 boxes of it in stock where with the others Magnums like the 460, 500, 454 and such they only had 3 or 4 boxes and for alot more money.. Cant wait for dear season! Now i just have to pick the best Hunting ammo for it!

Congratulations on the new shootin' iron. Handgun hunting is a little addictive, so be ready for it!! Lol. Where on earth did you find a store that had 30 boxes of ammo?! Its like a needle in a haystack around here.

Thanks! ya i cant wait! Ya the ammo for the most part is scarce here as well in Pennsylvania but some shops still have a pretty good supply of the more common ammo like .44 mag .22 30-06 .45 acp and stuff like that..

Now you just need to practice, practice, practice. Then when you think you are good enough practice some more from field rests. All the hard work will pay off when you get that one chance during hunting season.

thanks! I really think it was the best choice for me! I think the 44 mag has a lot of potential from 44 special all the way up to buffalo bore fire breathers! The ammo is affordable for me too! I won't lie tho this morning before I pulled out of my driveway I sat there and thought about it one last time 44 or 460? If I go left I go to the shop with the 44.. If I go right I go to the shop with the 460. In the end I turned left!! I could have got the 460 but it was $350 more + I would still have to buy a scope and the ammo is very pricey! It just wouldn't have been smart! 90 % of my hunting spots are 60 yards and less and almost all the big bucks I ever shot were usually right in front of me with in 20 yards! I think a super red hawk 44 mag with a 9.5 inch barrel should cover that!! Lol....

Good buy. There isn't anything on this planet that you can't kill with the 44.

Good choice!

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Congratulations on your .44!

As others have said, now to the next steps in your progression - range time and handloading!

I actually find reloading a lot of fun. I enjoy trying to find the perfect load for each gun. I've always found it amazing how two guns of the same make, model, and caliber, will shoot completely different setup's better. But that is when you become obsessed with the group size, Lol. Find a good load, play around with it and enjoy this wonderful sport my friend..
