Anyone shooting a 22 Hornet / K-Hornet? I am about to start load work on the Hornet and K-Hornet for my handguns. BFR, T/C Contender, and Anschutz Exemplar. Would be interested in hearing any of your experiences with cast, jacketed bullets, powders, etc..

14in Contender in K-Hornet:
55gr Bator sized to .225 loaded with 8gr of SR4759 with a Fed primer. MOA group at 100. Velocity of 1800 fps. (I have been playing with a few things and shrunk the group, but this is the picture I have on file... LOL)

15in Encore in Hornet:
55gr Bator sized to .225 loaded with 4.5gr of Green Dot with a CCI primer. 1/4in group at 100 Velocity of 1600+fps

I haven't loaded jacketed bullets in a while, but I do remember LiL Gun being my powder of choice. In addition There is an article or two on the sight about the Hornet. I found one from Rocky and I thought Dan B. did one as well.

With cast bullets, I did a loooot of experimenting. I took the advice of someone over on Specialty Pistols and sized my bullets to .225 instead of .224. Groups improved. I keep my vel at modest leaves. I have an old Lyman book or two that gave me invaluable data. I just started at the bottom and worked my way up. I am currently using a heavy coating of Alox on my 22’s just because of convenience. From my experience with Alox in multiple calibers, it doesn’t do well at or around the 2000fps range. (It is great for 44 bullets at 1300fps that your son wants to shoot. LOL)

I can load my Hornets for 4-5 cents a shot with the cast. They are not speedy, but they have been doing well for me.

Nice shootin' Duane! What twist are your barrels?

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
