As many of you know I've been critical of the accuracy with the Single Six when using the WMR cylinder. I've owned a half dozen or more and not one would group WMR ammo worth spit. I was recently looking for a Single Ten and/or Single Nine when I found this 7.5" Single six for 379.00 on Gunbroker NIB from another Dealer. I decided to go ahead and buy it. I was skeptical but I put the WMR cylinder in it and headed out with 40gr CCI Maxi Mags and Hornady 36gr SST's. I was pleasantly surprised to find this gun actually grouped both ammo types nicely even though I was just resting my forearms on the hood of my truck. I'm very interested to see how it does off the bags. The Hornady ammo did seem to group a little tighter at 50yds but that may have just been me. The first thing I did when I got the gun was work over the action giving it a 2# trigger with no creep and then I installed a Williams Firesight set which I really like alot. The Second gun I bought the next day was a 22/45 I picked up for 289.00 on GB also NIB from another dealer. I expected great performance for this gun although I haven't done the action yet. I installed a JPoint on it and as long as I concentrated on the trigger pull I was nailing pop cans at 50yds with no problems. I have the Wolff competition spring kit and a Volquartsen Accurizing kit and Titanium Disconnector on the way. I ordered the MKII kit so I can disable the magazine disconnect so the mag drops freely. I should come out with a match grade trigger between 1 and 1.5# when done and that should really increase the accuracy.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

I usually scratch my head when people talk about the .22 Mag. cylinder not grouping well. I currently have 4 Single Sixes, ranging in age from 1973 to 2009, and all will handle .22 Mags well. I suggest you try the Winchester hollow points (X22MH). I switched to Winchester at least 25 years ago, and won't use anything else.

Me, too, Ken. Mine likes the plain ol' Dynapoints.
It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

The ones I had in the past I tried a little bit of everything and some would shoot fair at best but would not come close to the long rifle cylinder. Years ago I had read an article on that subject and it talked about something I had not thought about at the time but I have passed on during many threads here since. Which is your dealing with bullets that are .005" to .007" different in diameter between the LR and WMR. Right now I'm shooting the Maxis and Hornady's cause that's what I have and the Maxi's are readily available to me still. I had one single six that was so bad I converted it to a 17HMR/HM2 which was an improvement. I think it must come down to luck of the draw but like I said I had half a dozen or more so it seemed more than a coincidence, but what I consider good or acceptable accuracy may be different than what others do. I have no doubt yours shoot fine but it's a strange deal and you know that bullet diameters that are that different will affect accuracy one way or the other.

Well stated, my single six is not a tack driver with either the LR or WMR. But, at 30-50 yards I can still down a woodchuck or raccoon with a single shot with the WMR, and roll tin cans around my range with the LR, that's accurate enough for me.

I've done a couple of those now and they are a lot of fun.

The original Winchester 40 jhp shoots pretty good through my S&W K-frame whereas my J-frame prefers CCI 40gr JHP...

I have a 17hm2 rifle and love it. Have been trying to find a 17 convertible for sale, always a day late.
