Spent last weekend in North Carolina with my buddy cottonstalk, and we checked some friend's property (in Johnston County) out just before dusk on Saturday night, in the off chance we would run into any lingering hogs. Wasn't down there to hunt, but when the hog population is as high as it is where we were, no sense not checking. When opportunity knocks, might as well be somewhat prepared. Didn't even have a camera with me, only my cell phone (hence the lousy photo) and my .45 Colt Bisley (this one is always with me -- you never know). Well, we got lucky and saw a pack in one of the fields. We put a stalk on and got within 30 yards. I picked the biggest one in the group, a sow, and let 335 grains of fun fly. Result: one dead hog. There are parts of her in cottonstalk's and my freezer!

Nice hog!

It pays to be prepared. Good show.

Rod, too.

Congrats! Nothing like great results on an unplanned hunt.

This looks like a great thread to have the 'is that enough' discussion, so... is a 45 Colt really enough gun for a hog? Seems like a 500 Alaskan is a sensible 'Minimum'!

Nice looking hawg!

Never saw one quite like that in my neck of the woods, is that a Razorback?

Thanks guys!

The problem with the .50 Alaskan is that if you are tree stand hunting, it'll knock you out of the tree!

Love the .45 Colt!

I would say she was a razorback!
