Anyone try the Ted Nugent ammo? Just ordered 2 boxes of 270gr 44 mag and wondered if anyone had any experience with it.

I actually ordered some on Monday, and hope to get it by early next week.

Received a few boxes of .44 Mag and .45 Colt a little while ago. The presentation is good. Hope they shoot well.

Curoius as to the MV of the 45 Colt.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

It's rated very low. They are claiming 800 fps from a 260 grain bullet.

you can thank lawyers for that, Hornady's 45 Colt is the same way. You know there is some idiot out there that will run it through a Colt, antique, black powder conversion, or one of the new Italian clones not to mention the new Vaqueros.

Understand about suits. I cannot find anywhere on the website that indicates the muzzle velocity, yet they claim it is "killer ammo for serious hunters". You gonna try and kill a pig with it Max?
We got Buff Bore, DT, Griz, Reed's and more. Folks that really load ammo for "serious hunters". I love Ted, but 800 fps 45 Colt? Seriously?
Rod, too.

Yeah, it's a bit light in the loafers. We'll see how it does as far as accuracy is concerned first.

I picked up a box of the 44 mag ammo about a month ago. Haven't had time to test the accuracy in it yet. Hope to take a deer with it this season.

260gr @ 800fps will kill anything I'm hunting....but I agree it's not high performance.
I don't harvest animals, I kill them...I don't take a Combine hunting!!!

I emailed Speer, asking about their 45 cal bullets' min and max velocity for reliable performance on big game and got this reply: Rod: unless you're going to drive them faster than a 45 Colt can do at Standard pressures, neither the MAX velocity from the 260 gr @ 941 fps nor the 250 gr @ 874 fps will make much of a deer/elk gun past just a few yards. Coy
And after I told him what I was currently shooting: Your 26+ grain load of H-110 would exceed the MAX loads for our bullets by 5.0 grs or more grains and I would not even consider that amount of powder in ANY 45 Colt with a 250 gr or more weight bullet.
At least it sounds like Ted got the right bullet for his "high performance" ammo
Rod, too.

I have shot the 260 HP through my 454 cranked to the nuts and it did really well on paper. I might get to use it on a deer this year.

This doesn't really surprise me. Most ammo manufacturers stick by the 14,000 PSI SAAMI maximum. They're just covering their butts. However, I think the .45 Colt comes into its own around 30,000 PSI. And after I told him what I was currently shooting: Your 26+ grain load of H-110 would exceed the MAX loads for our bullets by 5.0 grs or more grains and I would not even consider that amount of powder in ANY 45 Colt with a 250 gr or more weight bullet.
