One of Alaska`s majestic brown bear`s has found a new home in Jersey. This was possible because of the power of the 454 Casull cartridge and the Freedom Arms revolver to shoot it. I forgot how big these creatures are until I pried open the shipping crate and a huge head looked back at me....And lets not forget his claws. One swipe will remove a face as quick as one can swipe his credit card at the gas pump but remember...this is just an average size brown bear... If the chance ever comes along for a handgun hunt in Alaska....TAKE it.

PS- For those concerned I can say this was a free range hunt. No fences...

Congrats James! The mount looks great, and should be a good deterrent to any home intruder!

Pretty cool. Would have been cool to have him holding your cooler.

Great bear James. Love those claws!

And more on the load, bullet and penetration would be nice.

Kral, At first I was trying to get a 325gr Swift A-frame and 325gr Barnes Buster to shoot at the same point of impact when I came across two boxes of Cor-Bon 360gr Penetrators that were for a hippo hunt that never happened. The load had a listed MV of 1500fps and since they shot good out to 100 and I stayed with the Penetrators. The Dan Wesson was loaded with Grizzly`s 44mag
Punch bullet load that was very accurate at 50yds. The flat point Penetrator really hit hard...
