Trying to find 22 ammo is like looking for a hit. Begging the store clerk to put you back some ammo until you get off of work makes me feel like i am breaking the law or something.

I fortunately stocked up a while back and I've bought up what I could find since but when it comes out again I'll be buying a bunch more.

I've been stocking up too,so far over 5,000 and I still want more!-lol

I got this friend who has a cousin that can get us some when the shipment comes in on wed.....

And you gentlemen are the reason there is NO ammo on the market. HOARDERS

No 22's here.

I have around 500-700 round myself, but I use it mostly during trapping season to dispatch game..

My hoard was stocked away almost a decade ago. Now I shoot only what I buy.

It would be pretty easy to look at my pile and say hoarding. But I suspect I am like many here. I have probably half a dozen or more 22 LR guns, long and short. Over the years buyin a brick or two of different brands and flavors, trying to find just the right round for that particular gun. Value boxes here and there to feed the semiautos. All of those crazy Aguila oddball loadings just to try out. Not a single round ever purchased just to make my pile bigger.....

Now there was a time I got to looking at my pile of oddball .224 sized bullets, the boxes of 556 brass and my jugs of seldom used powders and I reloaded a boat load of 556 rounds. But that would be a differewnt thread ;^)

Update: my son calls from walmart, he bought 6 boxes of remington, doesnt shoot the best but at least i can shoot a little this fall.

I think I still have about 7000rds which includes bricks of federal, mini mags and cci longs which just have a lighter bullet from what I can tell since all other dimensions are the same. I have about 2000rds of cci maxi mags for the single six.

I am starting to see ammo on the shelves at 8 bucks a hundred. I guess the days of < 5 cents a shot is gone.

8.00 for 100 CCI's is actually normal but the bricks of federal and such should still be about 25.00

I am getting old. That's all there is to it. I used to get irritated when BRICKS of 22s were more tan $10. LOL

The store here just got some CCI standard velocity and some federal something in and they want $5/50. Is it going to get better eventually or will I have to travel to get better prices?

I've talked to some people that believe the manufacturers are going to hold back as long as possible to drive the prices higher. It sucks to believe they would do that but anymore this country is driven by greed.

I don't believe that Rod. People are buying it as fast as it comes and gouging ohters. I would never again frequent a store that is jacking up 22. They could kiss my ass. I just bought 6 boxes (100/box) of CCI minimag hp for $9 a box. I'll pay that any day of the week. Better than having nothing. I look at it as inflation, it happens to everything.

Around here it does. Its been anywhere between $9 and $10 for the last year here around town, when they have it. I saw the same stuff at stores in Grand Junction for $15 - $18 a box. Guess it depends on if the owner of the store wants to gouge his faithful customers or not!

Yup, I agree. Pricey, but worth it when you can hit EXACTLY what you are aiming at. I don't want to be close, I want to be dead on. It does cost a bit more to be able to do that, but its well worth the peace of mind for me.

True that. I can't afford to buy that stuff when taking the daughter's daughters out for a day of plinking tho.

HAHA!!! Yeah, that would make a difference in my ammo choice as well. Squirrels and rabbits are one thing, tin cans are another!

Not sure this is appropriate, but I just got back from the grocery store a bit ago. My favorite rice, Zatarains was up almost 35 cents a box (1.25 to 1.58) from last week, and my favorite bag of frozen shrimp was up even more. Food is going up every week. Why would one expect to find ammo at the same price they did a year ago?

Yes, there is some hoarding going on. But for anyone to ignore the bigger inflation picture, is just plain wrong.

Bullets are sure getting pricey now. I need some more 44 mag brass and cant find any. Have lots of 223, 40, 9, and everything else i shoot. There are going to be some nice estate sales when all these oldtimers go and leave drums full of ammo. Most just hoard it and never shoot it, my father being one of them.
