Anybody know where I could find some .357 Maximum brass? Just picked up a Contender with a S-14 barrel in Max and realized brass isn't readily available. Ya'll could pass along some preferred loads if you like - just in case I can locate some brass.
Thanks!

I suppose I could bust off 50 pieces of my stash to get you started. My preferred load is a max+ charge of H110 and a 160 CL-SIL, or a 158 XTP, Fed 205 primer.

Do the 158gr hold together in game (whitetails, feral hogs), at the Max's velocity, or should I be looking at 180's and up?

The 158 that I like for the Max is the FP-XTP as it is designed to run faster, but the bullet I use for hunting is the discontinued 160 CL-SIL. I have a bunch of older HP's that I got cheap that work for fun.

IMHO, the 158 XTP's are light for deer. I shot a Boar Coon at 25 yards walking away. I got less than 12in of penetration and the bullet didn't exit. In fact, the chest cavity looked like it was full of shrapnel.
Yes the 158XTP will kill a deer, "I" just feel like the 180s are much more suited for the job in the max. JMHO.

There are 2 styles, HP and FP. The FP is rated for higher velocities and what I will go to once I run out of my 160's, unless I can find some more.

check with Mike Bellm, he did have some as he's been doing a lot of work with the old max and is currently probably the foremost expert on it in single shots.
