This is a great story! Thank you both for taking the time to share the details of your hunt with us. I can only imagine the feelings one gets being that close to dangerous game without any protective barrier. I hope you both find your way back to Africa so we can hear about more of these adventures!

Great write up. Yall have my mind messed up. I am supposed to be studying topo maps and google earth over Colorado and instead I am on orbitz pricing flights to south Africa. They have actually come down some which has been one of the excuses I have made as to why I haven't made the trip yet. Of course the other is I really want a buff and can't swing that kind ow cash without a second mortgage. Interest rates are good right now... Good job guys.

I was looking at safaris myself after this. Couldn't believe an African trip is about 1/3 price of a grizzly trip to Alaska.

if you want to go shoot kudu, male lion, eland, and sable and some of the other bigguns you can spend a mint. if ya want a fun, very very exciting dangerous game hunt and are willing to hunt a lioness and some basic plains game it can be done very very affordably. you could reasonably get the plane ticket, hunt a lioness, an impala, a springbok, and a blesbok and be out less than 10 grand. many don't even consider south africa b/c of the large fenced areas. the thing is they're huge, beyond huge and the big cats don't respect the fences anyway. they go through, under and over the fences when they please. it's a great hunt and beyond exciting. i highly recommend calling bobby hansen or see him at the dallas safari club or the vegas show. he has very reasonable rates for daily rate as well. i speak highly enough of him and the way he conducts his safaris and the sad thing is i'd have spent 5 times that much going with a well known tv personality just to be safe if gary didn't already know him and know how good he is. give him a call.
