I went to the shooting range with my wife and one of my oil field workers that likes to do a lot of shooting, but uses rifles. He's pretty darn good with them too. We started shooting the 45 Colt, the XD, Glocks, my wife's 270wsm, then I grabbed the 500JRH. I was loading the rounds in the cylinder while the two of them were finishing up the last few shots in their magazines. I stepped up to the firing line when they were done, and I turned to my buddy and said, "You're my witness!!" then raised the 500JRH, took aim, and fired it... ONE HANDED!!!!

Yeah, that's right. I fired a full house load, a 440gr WFNGC pushed by 29.5gr H110, with one hand. I got the imprint of the back of the hammer right on the back of my hand between the thumb and forefinger. It looks pretty funny. Its likes someone used a red pen and outlined the hammer on the back of my hand. I took a picture, but it doesn't show up very well.

try 38 g of H110 under the same bullet in the encore .500 S & W with pachmyer grips-IT HURTS and that's with a muzzle brake,....but hey at least you can brag about shooting her one handed and then try to convince some unknowing poor sapp to give her a try!!-lol-john

Yeah sometimes our brain doesn't respond quick enough. Years ago took my son & nephew dove hunting. Handed my nephew a Remington 1100 12 gauge and replied that he had never shot a 12 gauge only a 20 gauge. Said it would not be a problem, son using an 870 said no problem. He (big for his age kid) kinda expressed concern. I said "look both barrels of this side by side 12 gauge at once (dual triggers)one handed" My wrist hurt for a week.
Brain did not engage quick enough.

yup, had a sxs 12 ga. shortened to minimum and EVERY time you pulled the trigger recoil forced you to pull them both. I was much younger then, and thought I could outsmart a machine. SO I DIDIT AGAIN. same result!

I have shot a 45-70 contender with 400grs at 1517fps one handed. A .475 Linbaugh one handed. The voices in my head keep telling me to try it with the Kahnke 82......... It is the only gun that ever put both my hands over my head. What do you fellers think? Are the voices right this time?

When the voices tell me to shoot my .50 Alaskan one-handed I will summarily evict them from my head.

Reflex, you know those voices are just going to get louder and louder, and will eventually drive you mad. So ya might as well DO IT, and get it over with!
