Yes I know it is late (early???) but it seems like my only solace:

(solace: comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness)

For my past few months some of my only solace has been in these wee wee hours of the morning. The pressures from work as well as the social pressures of normal life have subsided; so finally these hours are mine.

As I speak, I am reloading my beloved .475 Linebaugh cases with 400 grain Hornady XTP bullets in front of H-110. These loads will fill my custom five-shot Ruger while I am in search of a mule deer buck and a bull elk later in November.

Tomorrow (today actually)
\:\)
I will turn my truck due North after picking up my son Joe at the DIA airport and head for Gillette, Wyoming. There I will meet a member from this great website and guide him and his two teenage daughters for antelope on “my beloved ranch” of some previous 27 years.

The weather is changing as I write these words and some snow is in the forecast.

So Be It.

Wyoming! I love her. Always will.

Wish us luck. Or don’t. At any rate, you will hear back later.

Gregg

Jealous to the max. I live in the south and love it here. In my opinion, little can compare to mallard wings whistling through flooded timber on a January morning.

With that being said I am drawn to the northwest like a magnet and I cant wait to experience it one day. And by grannies I will.

Completly understand the Solace and changes. Try to have fun with the hunt. I used to chase Speed Goats around with a big group of friends, and changes caught up with everyone. One of my buddies lamented to me about the fun and good times we had, and I think he and I might try and pick it up again. Nothing is ever the same, but new can be good, with the right state of mind. Sounds like you have that covered. Good luck with your "Goats" in the mud.

I certainly understand the need for solace. I like your plan! reflex264

Rod, too.

Good luck Gregg!

I have been shooting the bow getting ready for a few weeks now. Hurrying up to slow down!

Coming soon; My dad will defer to the hunters themselves to post.

I will say that it was a fantastic hunt even down to the last 15 minutes.

Good luck and happy hunting. I see lots of lopes out of my office window at work everyday and long for the day when I can finally draw another tag.

Joe said it well; fantastic is not an exaggeration. I have not ever hunted with three more dedicated, patient and fun to be with, hunters.

Mother Nature dealt her cruel blow the third day of the hunt, with below freezing temperatures and snow blowing at 20 miles per hour. That morning was the worst conditions I have ever seen here on The Durham. Even the ranch hands were making negative comments about it.

We were hard pressed to find even one antelope.

But believe it or not, ONE was just what we found.

I will let Greg, PythonHunter, take it from here:
