I bought a Contender Frame on Gunbroker today and will be picking up a 14 inch 6.8 Rem barrel, forearm and grip on Friday from Ed's TC. I plan to use it this year for some longer range deer hunting instead of my revolver. Also ordered some Hornady 120 SST ammo.

Did you get a G2 or old style frame? I hear the 6.8 is pretty good deer medicine.

About like the Waters. But I prefer a rim on my single shots.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I wanted a G2 but they are hard to find. Ed told me that since S&W bought TC that they have ceased production of all but the bolt action TC's. I managed to find a late serial old style frame on gunbroker. I was told that the later ones are easier to open the action.

[/quote]. Yes, this is true if you use both hands. Well, this is true with my older Contender anyways.

Hank, wish I was off work friday. I'd like to meet you face to face and shake your hand.

I have an old model and a G2. My older gun is a later model built in the 80's. It is fairly easy to open, but the G2 is easier. I didn't know they quit making Encore's and Contenders! That's a shame!

The trigger is better on the original contender than the G2.
